Today I woke up very excited for day 1 of camp. With check-in beginning at noon, and the team grabbed our Starbucks breakfast and headed over to the facility. Knowing that we had about 4 hours, we got straight to it. A few more of the rentals would come today, like the ice trailer, golf carts, and powerful cooling fans. I had to take a few minutes to help the men from PowerBreezers to set up. They brought 8 different units in which would all need rolling into the correct placement. Each had to have some sort of electrical supply nearby to connect them up. Another issue we faced was finding a water supply and hose long enough to fill each of the units up. Luckily the stage was all set up and ready to go. The PA system company had already been in to set up the 4 large speakers. Last night we remembered we didn’t have tablecloths. I think it was around 10 pm when I ran to the store to get these. With the check-in area complete, and jack started to work on putting table cloths on the tables. We had about 20 tables. Once the clothes were on, we would go around giving out the correct amount of player journals, name labels, wrist bands, and other things we give to the campers upon arrival. We labeled each table A-T in which when the doors open, the players will enter the facility, find their ‘check-in group’, and sit down with a coach at that specific table. Before I knew it was noon. Check-in went smoothly, and Jack had found all the residential campers, got their bags together. Soon after checking, I took the bags over to the hotel to get the camper's room keys. As I came back to the facility camp was well underway. I met the catering company to set up all the coaches and player lunches for today on a table. Because of today’s format, I took a golf cart and would go around the fields handing out lunches to the coaches. Now the camp is underway I could focus on making sure the snack station was well stocked up for campers coming in and out of the facility. With day 1 in the books, I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings.
