Today we had our weekly operations team meeting via google meet. This was a good opportunity to discuss some of the future projects we are going to be working on. Also, we used this time to make sure everyone was up to date on each other’s progress. After the meeting, I began working on camp transportation. The 7 camps run throughout the summer include opportunities for campers to both be a “commuter” or “residential”. It is my role to find a transportation company to give residential campers a ride to and from the facility. This process would begin with the research part. Using the power of the internet I would look up local transportation companies in the area where the camp is located. From here I would put my research into a spreadsheet, created by my supervisor Hannah Murphy. The goal for myself today was to gather all my research so that in the next few days I could begin making calls and sending initial emails. However, I was soon to find out that this project would come with its logistical complications. Before sending initial emails and calling the transportation companies. I needed to know certain facts. For example the exact location of the venue, the exact location of the hotel that the campers would be staying at, and also the exact number of campers. Chris Gordon would do a great job throughout my time regularly updating our OPS spreadsheet with an accurate number of campers signed up. This would help me greatly when communicating accurate facts to these transportation companies.
